What you need to know

The Rental Assistance Benefit (RAB) is a subsidy program administered by Rocky View Foundation (RVF) on behalf of the Government of Alberta for the current residents of Rocky View County and the townsites of Airdrie, Cochrane, Crossfield, Irricana, and Beiseker. This program provides direct financial assistance to eligible low-income individuals and families to help make rent with a private landlord more affordable.

To qualify, applicants must meet all eligibility criteria under the Social Housing Accommodation Regulation, including:

  • Being in core housing need
  • Having total assets of $25,000 or less
  • Being a Canadian citizen, permanent resident (except those under private sponsorship), convention refugee, or an individual who has applied for refugee or immigration status with a broken-down private sponsorship

This long-term benefit is awarded based on need, which is determined by factors such as income, rent, assets, dependents, and current housing conditions. The RAB program plays a vital role in supporting housing affordability and improving the quality of life for those in need.
